1. COERCION
1.1. SS
1.1.1. 1925 - was formed from fanatics loyal to Hitler.
1.1.2. 1934 - Virtually destroying the SA.
1.1.2.1. It grew into a huge organization with a lot of responsibilities.
1.1.3. Led by Heinrich Himmler.
1.1.4. SS men were Aryans.
1.1.4.1. Highly trained in combat and to be loyal to Hitler.
1.1.5. SS’s main responsibility was to destroy opposition to Nazism and providing the racial policies of the Nazis.
1.2. POLICE
1.2.1. The police helped to prepare the Nazi dictatorship.
1.2.2. Top Jobs were given to high ranking Nazis according to Himmler.
1.2.3. The police added political ‘snooping’.
1.2.4. They had instructions to ignore crimes committed by Nazi superiors.
1.2.4.1. If someone opposed the Nazi’s, they would receive fair trial.
1.3. GESTAPO
1.3.1. The Gestapo was secret state police.
1.3.1.1. It is said to be the most scary to German citizens.
1.3.1.2. Germans thought the Gestapo were much more powerful than they actually were.
1.3.2. Under the command of Reinhar Heydrich, Gestapo agents had sweeping powers.
1.3.3. They were able to arrest citizens on suspicion and order them to concentration camps without explanation.
1.4. CONCENTRATION CAMPS
1.4.1. These were the Nazis' death trap against their own people.
1.4.2. 1933 - the first concentration camps were simply temporary prisons.
1.4.3. Prisoners were forced to do hard labor.
1.4.4. Late 1930s - deaths in the camps became more common.
2. CONSENT
2.1. PROPAGANDA
2.1.1. Dr Joseph Goebbels - minister of propaganda.
2.1.2. No books were allowed to be published without his permission.
2.1.3. Newspapers, broadcasting and movies (all sources of entertainment) must’ve contained pro-nazi messages. Otherwise it would be considered offensive to the German government.
2.2. HITLER YOUTH CLUB
2.2.1. A club created to provide education and teach (in a one-sided way) kids to obey Hitler's beliefs.
2.2.1.1. After they would be sent to war.
2.2.2. They learnt how to survive and how to fight well. This all, of course, was important when it came to sending the youth to the war.
2.2.3. Marched in parades with musical instruments.
2.3. SCHOOLS
2.3.1. They learnt that:
2.3.1.1. Germany was a victim of many wars.
2.3.1.2. Hitler was very superior and a good leader.
2.3.1.3. They should hate Jews.
2.3.1.4. White, non-Jewish race is unique and alpha.
2.4. OLYMPICS
2.4.1. They were held in 1936 in Berlin.
2.4.1.1. Joseph Gobbels created this event.
2.4.2. Aimed to provide the information that the white, non-Jewish race was superior to all other races.
2.4.3. 49 countries were available to compete in this event.
2.4.4. Modern technology was used to manufacture and present this event.
