1. Linguistic Effects
1.1. Looks like: - Can't find the words to express. - Talks a lot without a concrete idea.
1.2. Sounds like: - Talk fast and stutter. - Provide impulsive responses.
1.3. Accommodations. - Model pronuntiation. - The use of AT for speech practices.
1.4. Language skills enable an individual to use language. (National Library of Medicine. 2023).
2. Emotional Effects.
2.1. Looks like: - Difficulty to regulate feelings. - Tendency to emotional outbursts.
2.2. Sounds like: - They sound worry or anxious. - Tendency to be oversensitive in different environments and tends to over react.
2.3. Accommodations. - Encourage and positive reinforcement. - Allow student to have a calm space and to take breaks.
3. Social Effects.
3.1. Children with ADD/ADHD struggle socializing because they can not control their impulses.
3.2. Looks like: -They would play with peers . - Most of the time they would interrup peers in class creating discomfort among them.
3.3. Accommodations. - Seating arrangements. - Emotional support.
3.4. Sounds like. - Not letting peers talk or participate. - Difficulty listening to others.
4. Cognitive Effects.
4.1. Students with ADD/ADHD have been found to have more difficulties with processing speed, working memory, and attentional tasks. (PLOS One. 2018)
4.2. Looks like: - Difficult to keep focus, finish activities. - Struggle to manage time.
4.3. Sounds like: - Student can talk to itself. - Express frustration, consusion.
4.4. Accommodations: - Clear instructions. - Extended time to finish a task.
