Cell Organelles
by Kelvin Zhang
1. Cell Membrane
1.1. Walls of the cell.
1.2. Acts like a gatekeeper
1.3. Contains a double layer of fat molecules.
2. Cytoplasm
2.1. Watery fluid that the organelles are contained in
2.2. A jelly like fluid where everything is contained in.
3. Vacuole
3.1. Filled with watery fluid which contains nutrients, sugar, minerals, etc.
3.2. Can be used to store waste.
4. RER
4.1. SER
4.1.1. Transport network that makes lipids
4.2. Transport network that makes proteins
4.3. Ribosomes
4.3.1. Small "dot like" organelles. Ribosomes take information from the nucleus to produce protein that are involved in all circular functions.
5. Cilia
5.1. Present on some specialized cells.
5.2. Tiny hairs that work well to move the cell
6. Nucleus
6.1. Control center of the cell. Directs all activities.
6.2. Chromosomes
6.2.1. Found in the Nucleus and contains of DNA. Encodes the instructions for making more cells.
6.2.2. There are X and Y chromosomes.
6.2.3. We have 46 chromosomes.
6.3. Nucleolus
6.3.1. Produces ribosomes, which move out of the nucleus and take positions on the rough endoplasmic reticulum.
7. Mitochrondria
7.1. The energy centers of the cell.
7.2. Where energy is converted into a from usable by cells.
7.3. Containts it's own DNA
8. Golgi Apparatus
8.1. A complex of vesicles and folded membranes within the cytoplasm of most eukaryotic cells, involved in secretion and intracellular transport.
8.2. Lysosomes
8.2.1. Lysosomes contain hydrolytic enzymes necessary for intracellular digestion. They are common in animal cells, but rare in plant cells.
