1. If your coworker is experiencing domestic violence

1.1. Encourage commuication with HR and supervisor

1.2. Offer support by listening and assisting

1.3. Contact safety manager or law enforcement if you witness incident at work

1.4. Do not directly confront him/her; allow the person to self disclose for their safety

2. If you are a supervisor or manager of someone experiencing domestic violence

2.1. Be familiar with community resources and professional referrals

2.2. Maintain confidentially and be sensitive towards the situation

2.3. Take note of unusual absences or behaviour

2.4. Take note of physical abuse (bruises) or emotional stress

2.5. Contact EAP (Employee Assistance Program to discuss concerns, resources available and ways to support the employee

3. If you know someone who is is being battered...

3.1. Believe him/her and keep communication confidential

3.2. Inform he/she that they are not to be blamed for the abuse

3.3. Provide her information about local resources

3.4. Offer to assist her in keeping her safe. If possible, let her stay with you
